The Importance of Dressing Well

When you walk down the street, go shopping in a mall, hit up your local bar, or whatever venue you choose, you will always be able to tell apart those who know how to dress and those who don’t. Well you might be thinking that I’m fine the way I dress, I feel comfortable in what I’m wearing and that’s who I am. I don’t disagree and there certainly is nothing wrong with how you like to dress yourself, if what you are looking for in life has nothing to do with how you dress.

But for most people in this World, we are looking to always advance in life, to get a better job, to network with more successful people and to have power and respect. Your chances of attaining these goals and other goals that you may have, would be greatly increased if your appearance gave others the sense that you are an individual that possessed confidence.

A Canadian designer named David Dixon said in an article he wrote for a newspaper "Ironically, when big businesses are slimming down or "rightsizing" or laying off, it is often the well-coiffed and well-dressed who are last to be laid off. Why? Perhaps it is that they are perceived as a stronger commodity to the organization."

Of course you will always have the people who will wear baggy jeans, wife beaters, chains and piercings, and tattoos. These types of people are normally not the go getters in life and their lifestyle and sense of identity is more paramount and that is their choice.

em-gr11 From my experience it seems to me that many people just aren’t conscious about how they look, and the ones that do, just don’t know how to improve their look. Thinking back about myself, I remember when I wore the most hideous clothes to school. I always left my mom to dress me and my grandma kept passing generations of hand-me-downs to me in order to save money on buying new clothes. I was a shy and geeky kid and my interests were heavily into computers and art. For me, I thought as long as I was dressed and I was warm, the purpose of getting dressed was served. I was oblivious to fashion and I never understood all the hype surrounding it even up to my early years in University. It wasn’t until some people started suggesting to me that I was a good looking individual and that I should dress better that it even dawned on me that I had a problem with my wardrobe! After that I sought after a wardrobe consultant to help me go shopping for new clothes, teach me the basics of matching different garments, and to clean out my existing closet of over-worn and super outdated clothing.

leanne&me As I built up the knowledge of how to dress well and had a basic understanding of fashion, it opened up a whole new World to me and I started to enjoy going shopping and trying new clothes on. I started to pay more attention to what people wore to certain events, to study what actors and actresses were wearing, and to see what was in and what was not.

Dressing well doesn’t mean it will cost more, nor does it mean that is will be less comfortable. There are so many cheap clothing options that look great and looking good doesn’t mean that it isn’t comfortable. Knowing that you feel good and look good at the same time is an even better feeling! Knowing how to dress is the understanding of knowing what goes well with what.

Since there are so many fashion options out there, there is absolutely no excuse to not be able to find a style and wardrobe that works and fits who you are. If you are one of those who are oblivious to fashion, then you have come to the right site as we are here to help!

Developing a sense of style, like all things, will take time and practice, for starters simply keep an open mind and start paying attention to what people wear. The world is not just a stage, it’s a catwalk – and everyone is watching.

I have some experience :P you will probably find something which will look good on you + feel comfortable in.
